Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig
Tue Aug 26, 2025
Play’n GO has tried its luck several times in the fishing-themed slot market with its Boat Bonanza series. While none of those titles truly reeled in the fishing crown, they provided a decent alternative for fans of Big Bass-style gameplay. This time, though, the studio has swapped out the ocean for emerald hills and mining shafts in Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig—a slot that’s essentially a reskin of Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch. The big question is: do the mechanics work better underground with a leprechaun, or out at sea with a fisherman?
Theme & Design
At first glance, mining and fishing might not seem connected, but both involve digging (or casting) for hidden treasures. In this slot, the action unfolds in a glowing mine framed by waterfalls and gemstones sticking out from the walls. Shamrocks, carts, and a lively Irish jig remind you this is a leprechaun’s domain. Still, there’s nothing here that truly stands out—it looks and sounds exactly like what you’d expect from a light-hearted Irish mining slot.
Betting, RTP & Symbols
Bets start at €0.10 per spin and can climb up to €50. Under the surface runs a medium volatility math model with five RTP settings, the highest being 96.2%.
The action takes place on a 5×4 grid with 12 paylines. Winning combinations pay left to right, with the lower-value 10–A royals awarding up to 10x the stake for five of a kind. Premiums—wheels, picks, lanterns, and hats—bring in between 50x and 200x. Diamonds act as both money symbols and regular pay symbols, with lines worth up to 40x the bet. Interestingly, there are no wilds in this slot. Let’s take a took at the features:
Minecart Collection
Above the reels sit two minecarts. On any spin, the leprechaun may appear, turning them “lucky.” If one cart becomes active, it triggers a Reel Blast, collecting all diamonds on the reel below. If both carts land over the same reel, a Mega Blast occurs, sweeping up all diamond symbols across the grid. Diamonds carry values ranging from 1x to 50x the stake.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters unlocks 10 free spins, plus payouts of 20x or 100x for the higher scatter counts. During free spins, both carts are always active, guaranteeing Reel Blast or Mega Blast potential on every spin.
To spice things up, Lucky Clover symbols appear during free spins. When collected by a cart, they upgrade the Mega Blast Multiplier Meter and award additional spins.
- 3 clovers = x2 multiplier + 8 free spins
- 6 clovers = x5 multiplier + 6 free spins
- 9 clovers = x10 multiplier + 4 free spins
- 12 clovers = x25 multiplier + 2 free spins
Max Win & Verdict
With a top payout of 3,000x the bet, Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig hardly lives up to its “colossal” catchphrase. Much like its seafaring predecessor, this slot is well-made but lacking in originality. Essentially, it trades boats for minecarts, fish for diamonds, and that’s about it.
If you enjoyed Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch, you’ll find the same mechanics dressed in shamrocks here. If not, this probably won’t change your mind. The cheerful visuals and upbeat soundtrack make it a pleasant enough play, but there’s nothing groundbreaking.
In the end, Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig feels like a mash-up of overused slot themes—fishing, mining, and Irish luck—all rolled into one. It’s not a bad game, but it’s certainly not a standout in Play’n GO’s portfolio either.
