When Play’n GO first rolled out Rise of Olympus, it was seen as the testosterone-pumped cousin of Moon Princess—the same grid mechanics, but wrapped in Greek mythology instead of cutesy anime characters. Over the years, both slots have spawned multiple spin-offs, but Rise of Olympus Extreme might be the boldest iteration yet. As the name suggests, this version pushes multipliers and win potential to their highest point, even if the rest of the package feels quite familiar.
Design & Gameplay
If you’ve played any title in this series, you’ll know what to expect. The visuals stick with the tried-and-true Olympian theme: clouds swirling in the background, floating islands, and the ever-present trio of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades by the reels. The artwork is polished, but Play’n GO hasn’t reinvented the wheel here.
Gameplay takes place on a 5×5 grid, with clusters forming wins when three or more symbols align horizontally or vertically. The gods rotate in and out beside the grid, each tied to unique modifiers during special features. Clear the board in bonus play, and the background shifts depending on your chosen deity. It’s a setup that Play’n GO has leaned on heavily—and clearly intends to keep using.

Symbols are divided into two tiers:
- Low pays: lightning bolts, tridents, helmets, and harps (5 of a kind = 0.5x bet).
- High pays: Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades (5 of a kind = 1.5x bet, mixed gods = up to 1x bet).
- Wilds: created during cascades, worth 2.5x for five in a row.
Wilds substitute for all symbols and vanish if they’re the only ones left on the grid.
Cascading Wins & Multipliers
Winning combos disappear, letting new symbols fall into place. A wild spawns when a 3-symbol match is removed, and the multiplier climbs with every new drop. In some cases, the multiplier can even increase before the round begins.
Hand of God
Triggered randomly on losing spins, the active god steps in:
- Hades: transforms one set of symbols.
- Poseidon: adds 1–2 wilds.
- Zeus: wipes two symbol sets from the grid.
The featured god rotates after each activation.
Wrath of Olympus
Filling the power meter unlocks this feature. The meter has three segments, filled by 3–5 matching god symbols. Once full, a free round begins where each god uses their Hand of God power in sequence. The multiplier resets before this feature starts.
Free Spins
Earned by completely clearing the grid during Wrath of Olympus. Players then pick their preferred god:
- Hades: 4 spins
- Poseidon: 5 spins
- Zeus: 8 spins
The multiplier carries over from Wrath of Olympus and can climb all the way to x1,000. Each non-winning spin guarantees the chosen god’s modifier. Retriggers are possible, adding more spins (Hades +4, Poseidon +3, Zeus +2), up to a 100-spin maximum.
Grid Clearance Prize
Outside of Wrath of Olympus, a full grid clearance pays 20x the bet multiplier.

Play’n GO has leaned heavily on the Moon Princess/Rise of Olympus framework, and Rise of Olympus Extreme doesn’t stray far from that mold. Some may find it a bit too familiar, but what keeps this edition exciting is the ramped-up potential.
With a win cap of 50,000x and a snowballing multiplier system that can skyrocket up to x1,000, the slot lives up to its “Extreme” branding. It’s unlikely most players will ever see those dizzying heights, but just knowing the possibility is there adds an undeniable thrill.
In short: if you’ve enjoyed the gods’ cascading, wild-fuelled antics before, this is the most super-charged version yet. Not groundbreaking, but definitely capable of delivering those jaw-dropping wins that keep players coming back for more.
