Yggdrasil Gaming has always had a knack for making multipliers exciting. Their famous DoubleMax mechanic has given plenty of slots that heart-racing “one more spin” energy. But let’s not forget their other invention – MultiMax. Instead of boosting one global multiplier, this system builds individual reel multipliers. It was a hit in the 2022 release MexoMax! and now Yggdrasil is giving it another run in MexoMax 2, this time with a few extra twists.
First Impressions
The visuals of MexoMax 2 don’t quite capture the same magic as its predecessor. The dense, animated jungle backdrop feels toned down; the snake and jaguar that added life to the original are gone, and even the pulsing wild symbol has lost some of its drama. It’s still attractive, but compared to the lively first game, this version feels quieter. On the upside, the soundtrack delivers some atmospheric flair.
Game Setup & Basics
MexoMax 2 runs on a 6×6 grid with cluster pays. Wins form when 5+ matching symbols connect horizontally or vertically. Each win triggers an avalanche: the winning symbols vanish, a wild drops into one of the gaps, and new symbols fall in. Avalanches keep going until no new wins form.

MultiMax Multipliers
Each reel has its own multiplier starting at x1. When a wild lands, that reel’s multiplier increases by +1. If multiple reel multipliers connect to the same winning cluster, they’re added together. In the base game, these reset after losing avalanches.
Wild Variations
Wilds substitute for all pay symbols, but there’s more variety this time around:
- Regular Wild – standard substitute.
- WildEnergy Wild – comes with 2–4 lives, staying on the reels until all lives are used.
- Extra Multiplier Wild – adds between x2 and x50 to its reel’s multiplier.

Non-Winning Spin Modifiers

Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters awards 7, 9, or 11 spins. Before they start, you can gamble for up to 11 spins—but risk losing them all. The key twist? Multipliers don’t reset during free spins, so they can climb sky-high. Free spins can’t be retriggered.

Into the Jungle Again
The first MexoMax! nailed the feeling of an untamed, breathing jungle and made its MultiMax feature shine in a cluster-pays environment. MexoMax 2 keeps the bones of that success—multipliers, avalanches, free spins with persistent values—but adds more layers like special wilds, spin modifiers, and Grand Prizes.
Yet despite having more mechanics, it feels less alive than the original. The stripped-back visuals and atmosphere make it less immersive. That said, the gameplay remains thrilling, especially when multipliers stack during free spins, and the 10,000x potential ensures big win hunters won’t ignore it.
In short: MexoMax 2 is mechanically richer but thematically less enchanting. If you loved the first one, this sequel is worth a spin, but don’t expect the same jungle magic.
